The SCA and its member clubs organise a range of coaching courses to suit all levels of player. For further details or to discuss which course would be most appropriate for you, contact me (Chris Dent) on dent284#at#googlemail.com (replace #at# with @ - spam protection.)
New for this season, this course will be led by an experienced SCA coach. Topics to be drawn from revision of break play, hoop approaches, split shots, use of bisques, openings, three ball endings and others following consultation between the lead coach and the attendees.
Chris Dent will lead a course on tactics and techniques for "middle" handicap players. Topics to be drawn from revision on 4 and 3 ball breaks, openings, introduction to advanced play tactics (including leaves), rover peels, three ball endings and others in consultation with the attendees.
'Tap into the power of your mind and play better croquet. Find out how to set goals, believe that they are achievable and then just go and do them. Learn to play your best when it really matters.'
This is a rare opportunity to work with Keith Aiton, Scotland and Great Britain international and former Great Britain coach. The squad coaching is open to all players of handicap six and below, and will run from Saturday morning until Sunday lunchtime.
David Appleton will continue to offer single days (preferably weekdays) to indivisual players of handicap 6 or under. Generally speaking, these sessions should be held quite early in the season to give maximum time to put lessons learned into practice, so please get in touch soon. These sessions are likely to be held in Edinburgh but it may be possible to use alternative venues. Please contact David to make arrangements. The cost is £10 per day.
Rod Williams and Chris Dent will also be available for individual sessions on an ad hoc basis at the Glasgow and Meadows clubs - it may be possible to arrange sessions with SCA coaches at other venues (if you are interested in this, contact Chris for further details.)
